COVID-19 Response

The Jefferson Literary and Debating Society is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of everyone in the U.Va. community by adhering to both local and state regulations amidst these uncertain times. With that said, we would like to highlight that an individual’s decision to not be physically present during this semester will not in any way impede their ability to join or participate in the Society. The Executive Committee has made the decision to transition almost all elements of the Society, including interviews, meetings, and social events, to an online format. Please read below for details:

Interviews

Interviews will take place Saturday, February 6th through Friday, February 12th over Zoom. If you are interested in joining the Society, simply fill out an interview card found here to sign up for an interview. From there, we will contact you to set up a date and time for your interview. Interviews typically last 30-45 minutes and are designed to be an intellectual conversation about any topics of your choosing. Interview results will be sent out via email on Sunday, February 14th. Meetings

Meetings will be held at our usual time at 7:29 pm every Friday over Zoom, and as always, will be open to the public. Please check back for a sign-up sheet if you are not a member and would like to attend. A Zoom link will be sent out by our President, Ross Johnson, prior to each meeting.
